Marantz PM6002
By Duncan Madden
Designed to partner the CD6002 CD player launched last month, Marantz has unveiled the PM6002 integrated amplifier - its only integrated amplifier release this year.
The PM6002 delivers 'an extremely conservatively estimated' 60 watts per channel into four ohms through a large low-impedance, high-bandwidth toroidal transformer that promises maximum separation, clarity and dynamics.
Under the bonnet sits Marantz's Linear Drive Power Supply (LDPS) providing plenty of power for driving top-end speakers. The power supply also incorporates a pair of high-capacity 10,000uF (micro Farad) customised main capacitors providing a stable and solid current to drive the amplifiers and help them output a very clear, precise signal.
There's plenty more on offer to belie the budget price tag including fully symmetrical circuit architecture for ultra precise stereo imaging, large aluminium heat sink for component shielding and ultra-rigid low-resonance, acoustically damped chassis.
Weighing in at a whopping 7kg and available in Marantz's trademark black or silver, there's a veritable smorgasbord of features and connectors to round out the package. Available now for a paltry £270.
